The
Old Mission Store has been offering visitors from around the
world quality gifts since 1989. The Old Mission Store doubles
as the home base for Canyonlands By Night’s extensive list
of tours, as well as offering visitors a sanctuary from the smoldering
heat.
The Old Mission Store offers a wide variety of Western art along
with merchandise native or about the Moab area. The employees
at the Old Mission Store pride themselves in offering guests
beautiful, quality products and souvenirs of the area. You can
find anything from knives to Blue Mesa Native American Pottery.
Jackets and t-shirts consume a large portion of the store at
low prices. The Old Mission Store also offers a wide variety
of cutout denim shirts and embroidered denim jackets that sell
so quickly that reorders are called in weekly. The Old Mission
Store does its own custom embroidery in order to cut costs and
offer better prices to their customers.
Work
by local artist Dee Tranter is displayed at the store on canvas,
rock and on cards. Tranter’s influence of local scenery
is evident with his beautifully drawn and painted pictures of
arches and desert scenery.
The Old Mission Store also features leather vests and jackets
at amazingly low prices.
Employee Rachel Paxman explains, “We shop hard to find
great products at low prices and bring the great value back to
the customers.”
The Old Mission Store also carries a wide variety of Native American
art and jewelry. In fact they have a large selection at half
price due to the volume that was bought on closeout. Besides
the fine gifts that can be found at the Old Mission Store, you
can find books, videos, souvenirs, drinks and film. Besides the
merchandise, the Old Mission Store has a unique placement on
the Colorado River bank.
“The view of the river is spectacular,” says employee
Jessica Allred regarding the Colorado River that passes by the
store that can be seen out the windows at the back of the store.
