December at Gallery Moab

Ceramic by Joanne SavoieThere’s nothing like a splash of color and a spark of creative energy to fend off the winter blues! Brighten up the long, dark winter days by visiting Gallery Moab to see what our many talented local artists have been up to lately. This artist-owned and operated cooperative gallery showcases a variety of original fine art and artisan crafts inspired by the remarkable canyon country landscape. Different artists are featured each month, so there’s always something new and interesting to delight the eye.

Ceramic artist Joanne Savoie is our Guest Artist for December. She is a retired elementary school teacher with a habit of “playing in the mud.” Throughout the 35 years she has lived in Moab, she has taught ceramic classes and workshops in Moab, most currently at Desert Sun Ceramics. Her works are well-known and popular among locals, as she has participated in many Art Walks, Moab Artists Studio Tours, Moab Art Festivals, and Moab Farmer’s Markets. She creates in her home studio, Rimrock Studio, inspired by the geology of the canyons and the dramatic beauty of water carving through millions of years of “mud.” Her unique, fun and functional art-ware can be found at Gallery Moab, Desert Sun Ceramics, Tumbleweed, Moonflower Market and, of course, her own Rimrock Studio. A special show of affordable miniature paintings by our gallery artists will also be featured. Some of our artists are offering discounts on selected works, making December the perfect time to find a one-of-a-kind memento of the canyon country or a special holiday gift.

There’s something at Gallery Moab for every taste and budget, and everything we offer is unique and hand made locally. One of the artists is always on hand when the gallery is open to help you or answer any questions you might have. We hope you’ll come in to enjoy our colorful selection of paintings, photography, ceramics, wood carvings, fused glass, sculpture, jewelry, prints, cards and more.

For your safety and ours, Gallery Moab follows COVID safety protocols by requiring masks indoors, social distancing, and sanitizing. We offer a colorful selection of 100% cotton masks in different styles made by our artists. Sale of these masks helps us keep the lights on!
