Mary
Potter, from Grand Junction, Colorado decided that she wanted
to go skydiving last week. Mary’s granddaughter had
jumped with us last year and when she returned home, she
told her grandmother that she should to do it next year.
So the family got together and brought Mary out to the Moab
Airport last Thursday to make her very 1st skydive!
She was a very spunky and energetic grandmother! It was a pleasure
to see her adventurous outlook on life. She was ready to go
right from the start. We taught the tandem class and she got
geared up and said, “see ya later” to her family
who were watching her get in the plane. We flew her around
the Moab airport for about 20 minutes until we reached our
altitude of 10,000 ft. The door opened and she did not hesitate
to get out of the plane.
Mary and her tandem partner jumped from the plane together
and she had the perfect ‘arched’ body position.
She was freefalling for over 35 seconds and then the parachute
opened up and her first words were, “can I do that again
when I get down?” The parachute ride lasted about six
minutes so Mary got a good look at the beauty that Moab has
to offer.
It was a perfect landing. Sliding to a complete stop, Mary
thanked her instructor and said she would be back for the M.O.A.B.
(Mother Of All Boogies) on Sept 28 - Oct 1st, 2006.
