The
Desert is in “Full Bloom” in Moab
by Janet Lowe
The surest way to show your love on
Valentine’s Day…or any occasion…is with a
beautiful arrangement of flowers. One of Moab’s newer
businesses takes a simple bunch of flowers to artistic and
creative heights.
Full
Bloom, owned and operated by Joan Taylor, does not deliver
an ordinary bouquet wrapped in green tissue paper.
“I try to create a composition which reaches a level of artistry beyond
the basic idea of putting a flower in a vase. My floral designs are meant to
speak to you and invite you to be a part of the experience,” said Joan.
Indeed, as many people have become acquainted with Full Bloom arrangements,
there is much buzz about their success.
“I’ve had people tell me how much they enjoy seeing my work at their
dentist’s office and want to order exactly the same thing,” Joan
explains. “Or they’ll say, ‘what is that electric purple flower.
I’ve never seen anything like that!’”
Having designed floral arrangements for 10 years, Joan made herself
at home in Moab only a year and a half ago. A transplant to Utah first
from
the Midwest and then from Park City, Joan’s designs stand out.
One customer, commenting on a funeral they had attended said, “I
didn’t even have to read the card to know which one came from Full
Bloom. It was simply so beautiful and so unusual.”
Ms.
Taylor keeps her creativity awake by attending workshops and seminars
held by national and European designers. She takes great delight in
trying new things and in working personally with clients to design
flowers for their wedding or other special occasions.
“I get so excited in planning weddings. It is great to talk to the bride
and find out what kind of flowers will make her special day happy. And since
budget is almost always a consideration, I assure all my brides that I can make
something beautiful for them no matter what their budgets might be. I haven’t
had a disappointed bride yet!” Joan beams.
Full Bloom also offers wedding decorations such as candelabra, table
decorations and even arches cascading with flowers. And not only does
Full Bloom provide flowers for long-planned, formal weddings, Joan often
gets calls from folks who are having an informal wedding on the spur
of the moment. She – or one of her helpful sons — will deliver
flowers to motels, churches or even national parks!
Her flower designs have received large audiences at both the Moab Music
Festival and the Seekhaven Ritz. She has even created “presentation
bouquets” for one of Moab’s annual events “24 Hours
of Moab.”
Flowers from Full Bloom will almost always have a hint of the desert
in them.
“I
try to always use natural and/or native elements to make the design sing
of Moab. I’ve used pine branches, river rock, and other natural
accessories that make the designs unique to Moab,” says Joan. “I
like a lot of whimsy in my designs,” she said. Most of her customers
seem to agree as she has a stack of fan mail.
Joan can create designs for almost any budget. For as little as $10.00
per week you can have a wonderful arrangement delivered to your place
of business or home.
“I couldn’t be happier working to please the people of Moab. My husband
Scott, my two sons and I have found Moab to be full of warm, sincere people.
What a joy it is to design and deliver flowers here,” says Joan.
Full Bloom designs for weddings, sympathy, and everyday occasions. Silk,
dried flowers and blooming and green plants are all used. Wire service
across the nation is also available!
