NON-PROFIT HAPPENINGS May 2010

Moab Farmers’ Market
at the Arts Festival

Opening at 8:00 AM during the Moab Arts Festival Saturday May 29 the Moab Farmers’ Market brings fresh food to the community. Look for local fruit, vegetables, herbs, cheese, flowers and plants. Hot coffee is available at the Moab Farmers’ Market Sponsor Booth along with books and gift certificates. Food Stamps are accepted. Find the Farmers’ Market on the Moab Arts Festival Location Map.

Artist Alina Murdock, winner of the 2010 Farmers’ Market Poster Contest, was inspired by horticultural publications from the 1800s with cornucopias of butterflies, fruits and vegetables capturing the variety of items available at the Moab Farmers’ Market. The poster is for sale at the Farmers’ Market Sponsor Booth.

With support from our sponsors the Moab Farmers’ Market is able to provide a direct market venue which supports local farms supplying fresh high quality food.

This is helping to raise awareness about the economic, social and ecological benefits of buying local. Thank you! Youth Garden Project, Arches Book Company, Ye Ol’ Geezer Meat Shop, Moonflower Market, Red Rock Bakery, Canyon Color Graphics, Moab Happenings, KZMU, and the Times Independent.

For information about the Farmers’ Market please call Gayle Weyher, Farmers’ Market Manager at 259-0242.

First Annual
Spring Swing Golf Tournament

Spring has sprung so get out those golf clubs, and practice your putting for the Moab Area Chamber of Commerce First Annual Spring Swing Golf Tournament! Moab’s newest golf tournament will take place Monday, May 24th at the Moab Golf Club. Tee time is 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start in a four man scramble format.

The Spring Swing is offering a variety of fun challenges, prizes and raffle items. Win a new car from Moab Auto, a Grand Canyon River Trip provided by Western River Expeditions, or a set of new tires donated by Chip’s Grand Tire in the Hole- in One Shoot Out! There will also be prizes awarded for Longest Drive, Putting Challenge, Closest to the Pin, and Chip’N Challenge.

The cost for this event is $75.00 for an individual, or $300.00 per foursome. The registration fee includes 18 holes of golf, riding cart, a BBQ lunch catered by Frankie D’s, and the chance to win some great prizes. For those who are unable to participate in the golf tournament, but would like to come have lunch with business peers, the luncheon will be served at 1:00 p.m. The price of the luncheon only is $15.00.

If there are any businesses that would like to sponsor a hole, there are still some available. The cost of sponsoring a hole is $300.00, or $500.00 to sponsor a hole and enter a team. Hole sponsorships are a way for Chamber members to have their business name more visible and to promote what their business has to offer.

To register for the Spring Swing Golf Tournament, visit: www.golfdigestplanner.com/14712-ChamberofCommerce, or call the Moab Area Chamber of Commerce office at 435-259-7814.

The Moab Area Chamber of Commerce relies solely on membership dues, and fundraising to sustain its operation. As is the case of some chambers, this Chamber is not subsidized by the city. The continued support of business members is greatly appreciated, and your participation in Chamber events is encouraged. To individuals and non-Chamber members, please join the business community for a day of fun, and to find out more about what the Moab Area Chamber of Commerce can offer you!
